Thank you very much, Congressman Chris Smith, all members of the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission and the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
感谢你们在今天4月20日，在高智晟59岁生日之际举办这场特殊听证会。
Thank you for holding this special hearing today, April 20, on Gao Zhisheng's 59th birthday.
也很荣幸在这无比崇高神圣的美国国会祝他生日能活着。
It is also an honor to wish him to live on his birthday in this incomparably noble and sacred U.S. Congress.
首先，我想谈一下高智晟与美国。
First, I would like to talk about Gao Zhisheng and the United States.
高智晟生长在中国西部一个贫穷的农村，他从来没有踏上美国的土地，
Growing up in a poor rural village in western China, Gao Zhisheng has never set foot on American soil.
美国开国元勋麥迪遜 James Madison Jr.先生的《美國制憲會議記錄——辯論》，他多次研读，
Mr. James Madison Jr.'s "Minutes of the Constitutional Convention of the United States of America - A Debate" has been read many times by Gao Zhisheng.
他期望他的祖国-中国有一天能像美国一样变成一个自由，民主，施行宪政的国家，
He hopes that his country, China, will one day become a free, democratic, and constitutional country like the United States.
这个梦想激劢着他长达二十年来奋斗不止。
This dream has motivated him to strive for 20 years.
2007年，高智晟发表了《致美国国会的公开信》，
In 2007, Gao Zhisheng published "An Open Letter to the U.S. Congress",
高智晟从人权，环境破坏，司法腐败，抢劫私人财产等八个方面，指出中共是一个披着国家外衣的犯罪团伙，
in which Gao Zhisheng pointed out that the Chinese Communist Party was a criminal gang in the guise of a state
呼吁美国总统和议员效仿里根总统抵制汉城奥运会那样抵制中国2008年奥运会。
and called on the U.S. president and legislators to boycott the 2008 Olympic Games in China, just like President Reagan boycotted the Seoul Olympics.
此信发出，高智晟从此就从不听话的律师升级成了“美国人的走狗”，
Since this letter was issued, Gao Zhisheng has been upgraded from a disobedient lawyer to a "lapdog of the Americans"
没有经过任何司法程序被绑架了50多天，受了各种骇人听闻的酷刑，
and has been kidnapped for more than 50 days without any judicial procedures and subjected to all kinds of appalling torture.
从这一天开始，高智晟再也没有一天是自由的，直到2017年8月，
From that day on, Gao Zhisheng was never free again until August 2017,
被中共非法绑架，生死不知快六年。
when he was illegally kidnapped by the Chinese Communist Party, and his life and death were unknown for almost six years.
美国不是高智晟的祖国，
The United States is not Gao Zhisheng's home country,
但是美国国会，国务院多次为营救高智晟发表声明，
but the U.S. Congress and the State Department have repeatedly issued statements to rescue Gao Zhisheng.
并在2006年4月27号全票通过365号决议【督促中国政府恢复高智晟及其律师事务所执照】。
And on April 27, 2006, the Congress voted unanimously to pass Resolution 365 [urging the Chinese government to reinstate Gao Zhisheng and his law firm's license].
美国也在我们家庭最艰难的时刻，收容了我和两个年幼的孩子，逃脱了中共的暴政迫害，
The United States also took in me and my two young children during our family's most difficult time and escaped the tyrannical persecution of the Chinese Communist Party.
感谢美国。
Thank you, America.
和我同样珠链煎熬的，还有高智晟的至亲们。
And Gao Zhisheng's closest relatives were also tormented by the same strain as me.
他的姐姐，因无法忍受当地公安长期的逼迫和骚扰，于2020年5月跳河自杀。
His sister, unable to endure the prolonged persecution and harassment by local public security officers, committed suicide by jumping into the river in May 2020.
当地公安为了阻饶家人去寻找他，不仅没收了国内家人的身份证件，
To prevent his family from searching for him, the local police not only confiscated the identity documents of his family members in the country,
不可以随意离开居住地，
but also prevented them from leaving their place of residence at will.
甚至在姐夫身患重病需要就诊取药时都刁难不返还的证件，
Even when my brother-in-law was seriously ill and needed to seek medical treatment, he was not allowed to possess his identity documents,
因此造成救治困难，于2016年5月因病重姐夫跳楼自尽.
thus making it difficult to provide medical treatment. In May 2016 due to serious illness brother-in-law jumped to his death.
我们只是普通的家庭，
We are just an ordinary family,
高智晟也没有违反任何中共法律，却被中共犯罪集团如此迫害，
and Gao Zhisheng did not violate any Chinese Communist law, but he was so persecuted by the Chinese Communist criminal group.
这样的痛苦今天还在继续，
And such suffering continues today.
而高智晟作为一个无罪的中国公民，未经审判，就这样被绑架了近六年，音讯全无，更是举世罕见的恶事。
As an innocent Chinese citizen, Gao Zhisheng has been kidnapped without trial for nearly six years without any news, which is a rare evil in the world.
最后，请允许我向贵委员会的创始人Thomas Peter Lantos表达敬意，感谢他毕生维护世界人权。
In closing, let me pay tribute to the founder of your Commission, Thomas Peter Lantos, for his life of defending human rights around the world.
MR Lantos是纳粹大屠杀幸存者，然而他能逃过大屠杀，并不是因为15岁的他比其人更聪明更强壮，
Mr. Lantos was a Nazi Holocaust survivor, but he escaped the Holocaust not because he was smarter and stronger than the others at the age of 15,
而是有一位义人瑞典外交官Raoul Gustaf Wallenberg帮助他，Mr Wallenberg拯救了超过4500名犹太人，
but because he was helped by a righteous Swedish diplomat, Raoul Gustaf Wallenberg, who saved more than 4,500 Jews.
以此功绩，他成为历史第二位美国荣誉公民。
For this feat, he became the second honorary U.S. citizen in history.
Mr Wallenberg 没有死在纳粹手里，他坚持到了二战结束，
Mr. Wallenberg did not die at the hands of the Nazis, he lasted until the end of World War II,
却被盟国共产党苏联抓捕，没有法律程序，
but was captured by the Allied Communist Soviet Union without legal proceedings,
没有审判，没有律师探视，甚至从来没有人知道他因为何事被关在哪里。
without trial, without visits from lawyers, without anyone even knowing where he was being held for what.
这一切，像极了中共对我丈夫高智晟的手段，同样是极权的共产党国家，一样的犯罪手段。
All of this is like what the Chinese Communist Party did to my husband Gao Zhisheng, the same totalitarian Communist state, the same criminal methods.
Mr Wallenberg 最终死在共产党苏联的监狱，没有人知道他什么时候死的，他的家人也没有见过他的遗体，
Mr. Wallenberg eventually died in a Communist Soviet prison, no one knows when he died, and his family has never seen his remains.
这会不会是我丈夫高智晟的命运，我非常担忧。
Could this be the fate of my husband Gao Zhisheng? I am very worried.
近六年了，不但没有逮捕书，也没有任何单位和组织对高智晟的绑架负责，
Nearly six years have passed, and not only is there no arrest warrant, but no unit or organization has been responsible for Gao Zhisheng's abduction.
没有人见过他，也没有人听过他的声音，更没有人证实他还活在这个世界上。
No one has ever seen him, no one has ever heard his voice, and no one has confirmed that he is still alive in this world.
高智晟曾被三次提名诺贝尔和平奖，获得美国，欧洲各种国际大奖，却不能获得一个公正的审判，不能给家属一个电话。
My husband Gao Zhisheng was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize three times and has received various international awards in the United States and Europe but could not get a fair trial or a phone call to his family.
先生们，女士们，我和孩子非常感恩你们来听高智晟的故事，向你们展露我们的伤口，诉说我们的绝望。
Ladies and gentlemen, my children and I thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to present Gao Zhisheng's story, to show you our wounds, and to tell you, our despair.
我恳请你们帮助我，我那敢奢望高智晟的自由？
I implore you to help me. How dare I hope for Gao Zhisheng's freedom?
首先我期待美国驻中国使馆官员会见美国公民的丈夫及美国公民爸爸的家人。
First, I expect the U.S. embassy officials in China to visit Gao Zhisheng, a husband and a father of the U.S. citizens.
其次要美国国会能督促中国，让高智晟像普通政治犯那们被公开审判，获得公民该有的探视权，。
Secondly, I would like the U.S. Congress to urge China to allow Gao Zhisheng to be tried in public, like ordinary political prisoners, and to be granted the visitation rights that citizens are entitled to.
如果这些无法实现，让高智晟给我打一个电话，告诉我他还活着也可以，只要知道他还活着，就够了。
If these cannot be achieved, it's okay to have Gao Zhisheng give me a call and tell me he's still alive, just knowing he's alive is enough.
高智晟及我们家的苦难，目前我还看不到尽头。在中国，像我们这样的家庭还有很多，
I cannot see the end of Gao Zhisheng's and our family's suffering yet. In China, there are many other families like ours,
也希望大家关注王炳章，王藏，郭飞雄等等良心犯们。
and I hope that people will pay attention to Wang Bingzhang, Wang Zang, Guo Feixiong and other prisoners of conscience.
