DPCC首次在 Sankofa Square 举办国际人权纪念活动

【多伦多讯】2025 年 12 月 10 日，世界人权日当天，中国民主党加拿大委员会（DPCC）展开了一系列具有历史意义的行动。这一天，不仅是国际社会共同纪念人权价值的重要时刻，也标志着中国民主党加拿大委员会首次在多伦多城市地标 Sankofa Square 举办人权日纪念活动。

当天下午，中国民主党加拿大委员会联合藏青会 RTYC–Toront、香港人权活动人士及其他长期关注亚洲人权议题的团体，在中国驻多伦多总领事馆前举行联合抗议，谴责中共对中国、藏族及香港等群体持续进行的人权迫害，并向国际社会发出跨族群、跨背景团结反抗极权暴政的共同呼声。
活动组织者刘岩指出，当汉人、藏人、香港人及其他受迫害群体站在同一阵线时，中共最害怕的局面就会成为现实。他表示，尽管中共试图用“分裂”“民族对立”等话术制造隔阂，但事实证明：真正分裂人民的是暴政，而真正让不同民族靠近的，是共同争取自由的斗争。
在联合抗议期间，党员LAN QIU（图右二）发表英文演讲，向国际社会阐述中共人权迫害问题，呼吁持续关注并采取行动，并得到了藏人组织的赞赏。

抗议行动结束后，中国民主党成员于傍晚前往多伦多重要公共空间 Sankofa Square，展开以中国民主党为主题的 Jasmine Flash Mob Protest（茉莉花快闪抗议行动）。这是中国民主党加拿大委员会首次在该地标性广场（被常比作纽约的时代广场）进行人权主题纪念与抗议活动。成员们展示党旗与标语，呼吁国际社会持续关注中国、Tibet 及 Hong Kong 的人权处境，并以和平而坚定的方式表达对自由、人权与公义的坚持。

Sankofa Square 作为多伦多繁忙的市中心公共广场之一，既是市民日常活动的重要空间，也承载着公共表达与社会参与的象征意义。中国民主党在世界人权日首次走入这一城市地标，体现了将人权议题带入主流公共视野、以公开而和平的方式进行表达、拒绝沉默的行动立场。
参与本次活动的党员们表示，即使行动规模有限，但在极权压迫仍然存在的现实下，坚持发声本身就是一种责任。这一天，对中国民主党加拿大委员会而言，具有重要而清晰的历史意义。

Today, I want to talk about an important and meaningful topic: human rights.
What are human rights?
Human rights are the most basic rights and dignity we have as human beings. They are natural and universal, belonging to everyone regardless of race, gender, religion, or background. Like sunlight and air, human rights are our natural source of hope and strength.
But we must ask an important question: Do ordinary people in China truly enjoy these basic rights today?
My answer is no.
So where are the people’s rights?
Throughout the history of the Chinese Communist Party, human rights have often been sacrificed to protect political power. During the “Three-Anti” and “Five-Anti” campaigns, many innocent people were falsely accused, punished, and even lost their property or their lives.
The Cultural Revolution destroyed countless families and stripped people of their freedom to think and speak. During the Tiananmen Square protests, peaceful demonstrators were violently suppressed, violating their fundamental rights to life and assembly. Behind every one of these events lies the suffering of ordinary people.
The Declaration of Independence states that all men are created equal and are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Yet under the rule of the Chinese Communist Party, these basic human rights have been taken away. The reality is painful. Under the One-Child Policy, countless lives were denied the right to be born. The birth of a child, which should bring joy, instead became a source of fear and silent despair.
When economic recessions occur, many people lose their right to work and struggle simply to feed their families. Children born in poor and remote areas are denied access to education, and their dreams are crushed before they even have a chance to begin. Even in death, families without money may be deprived of the right to a proper burial, adding further pain to their grief.
As for the right to healthcare, freedom of belief, and freedom of speech, these rights remain out of reach for most people in China.
All of these examples show that the policies of the CCP are not designed to serve the people, but to secure its control, even at the cost of basic human dignity. This stands in clear violation of international human rights standards and the fundamental responsibility of a government to protect its citizens.
We must remember this history and understand the true importance of human rights. Only by remembering can we act. Only by acting can we protect these rights and continue the fight for freedom, dignity, and happiness for ourselves and for future generations.
