On the afternoon of June 4, 2025, Mr. Sunny Sonam, President of RTYC Toronto, attended the Tiananmen protest rally in front of the Chinese Consulate in Toronto. He then marched alongside Chinese, Hong Kong, and other participants to the Tiananmen Memorial at the University of Toronto, where he delivered a speech. In his remarks, he spoke of how his own family had suffered under the persecution of the Chinese Communist Party, and led the crowd in chanting slogans such as “Free Tibet” and “Never Forget June Fourth.”
2025年6月4日下午，多伦多藏青会主席桑尼索南先生出席多伦多中领馆前的六四抗议集会，之后和华人、港人等游行队伍一道徒步来到多伦多大学六四纪念碑前发表六四演讲，提及自己家族深受中共迫害的经历，并带领在场人群高喊“自由图博”、“不忘六四”等口号。
Speech in front of Chinese Consulate Toronto:
I’m a Tibetan. But today, we are all the same.
First of all, I want to say thank you to everyone who is standing up against the CCP — right in front of the communists, right here at the consulate.
First thing first, I want you to remember: this is not closed. If you look inside, there are still a lot of people in there.
And I’m pretty sure a few of you here are new. If you look, you can see the surveillance camera right over there — it's just been installed a couple of months ago.
I’m not going to waste too much time.
Let’s do some slogans, okay?
Human rights in China now!
Free Tibet!
Free Hong Kong!
Free China!
Never forget June 4th!
Bring down the CCP!
多伦多中共领事馆前的发言：
我是藏人，但今天，我们大家是一样的。
首先，我想感谢每一位站出来反对中共的人——就在中共面前，就在这个领事馆前。
首先我要提醒大家：这个领事馆并没有关闭。如果你往里看，里面还有很多人。
我相信在场有一些朋友是第一次来。如果你留意看，那边有一个监控摄像头——那是几个月前才装上的。
我不想占用大家太多时间。
我们来喊一些口号吧，好吗？
中国现在就要人权！
自由图博！
自由香港！
自由中国！
永远不要忘记六四！
打倒中共！
Speech at U of T's Tiananmen Square memorial:
Half an hour ago, I was standing right in front of the Chinese Consulate.
You know, I’m a Tibetan. And today, we are all the same.
I just want to remind everyone that the CCP, the Chinese Communist Party, is doing their best to change our name — to turn Tibet into “Xizang.”
So please, don’t call us “Xizang.” We are Tibet.
When they say “Xizang,” they are trying to make it a smaller version of Tibet — trying to erase our country, our culture, our traditions — like they’ve been doing for more than 70 years.
I’ve said this many times, and I’m pretty sure most of you still don’t know:
More than 169 Tibetans have self-immolated — burned themselves alive — asking for freedom, asking for democracy, asking for basic human rights in our country, Tibet, which has been occupied by China since 1959.

Right now, today, we are all here.
And the only thing I’ve been saying is: We have to be united.
Everyone knows: Unity is strength.
What is unity?
Unity is strength.
We have to unite to bring down the CCP.
I just want you all to say with me:
Bring down the CCP!
This is not only for today.
Don't go home and forget.
This is the time we must stay united — and bring down the CCP.

Free East Turkestan!
Free China!
Free Tibet!
And one more thing I want to let you guys know:
There are a lot of propaganda videos circulating — saying that the 17-Point Agreement signed on May 23, 1951, was a “peaceful liberation” by the CCP.
It was not a peaceful liberation.
More than a million Tibetans have died.
My younger brother died.
My grandmother died.
My dad died.
I’m a Tibetan.
And our country has been occupied by the CCP.
We need to stand together.
Stand with Taiwan!
Free China!
Free Hong Kong!
Bring down the CCP!

多伦多大学六四纪念碑前的发言：
半小时前，我还站在中国领事馆前。
你们知道，我是藏人。而今天，我们大家是一样的。
我想提醒大家，中共——中国共产党——正在竭尽全力改变我们的名字，试图把“图博”变成“Xizang”（西藏）。
所以请不要叫我们“Xizang”（西藏）（记者注：西藏自治区只是整个Tibet/图博的一小部分，图博的领土包括西藏自治区、青海以及甘肃和四川的一部分，及云南的一小部分，却被中共强行分割划入中国的五个省内）。我们是图博（Tibet）。
他们口中的“Xizang”（ 西藏），是想把图博变成一个缩小版的、被阉割的存在——试图抹去我们的国家、我们的文化、我们的传统。这正是他们七十多年来一直在做的事情。
我已经说过很多次了，但我敢肯定，很多人还是不知道：
已有超过169位藏人自焚，他们用生命在呼喊：我们要自由，我们要民主，我们要最基本的人权。在我们自己的国家——图博，自1959年起就被中共占领。
而现在，今天，我们都在这里。
我一直在说：我们必须团结。
大家都知道：团结就是力量。
团结在一起会产生更大的合力。
我们必须团结起来，推翻中共。
我希望你们和我一起喊出这句话：
打倒中共！
朋友们，现在就是我们必须团结的时候。
这不仅仅是今天的事。
不要回家后就忘记了。
我们必须团结、必须坚持到最后——一起推翻中共。
自由香港！
自由东突厥斯坦！
自由中国！
自由图博！
还有一件事我想告诉你们：
现在流传着很多宣传视频，说1951年5月23日签署的“十七条协议”是中共所谓的“和平解放”。
那根本不是什么和平解放！
超过一百万藏人被杀。
我的弟弟死了。
我的外祖母死了。
我的父亲死了。
我是藏人。
而我们的国家图博，被中共占领至今。
我们必须团结起来。
支持台湾！
自由中国！
自由香港！
打倒中共！
