Tony tang

Statement on the Arrest of More Than Thirty Pastors and Co-workers of Beijing Zion Church

With grief and righteous indignation, we issue this public statement to the world:
On October 9, the Chinese Communist authorities launched a new wave of large-scale arrests against Beijing Zion Church and Christians across multiple provinces.

This persecution is not merely an assault on one church, but a blatant violation of religious freedom and an affront to human conscience.
More than thirty pastors and co-workers have been taken away. Believers have gone missing. Families have been threatened and prevented from meeting their loved ones.
These are not isolated incidents — they are evidence of a systematic campaign of repression.

Since its founding, Beijing Zion Church — a community of more than five thousand members nationwide — has faithfully upheld the pure gospel of Christ: worshiping God, serving society, caring for the weak, and respecting the law.
They are being persecuted simply because they refuse to become part of the state-controlled Three-Self Church, refuse to recognize the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party as their head, and refuse to sign any contract betraying their faith in God.
Instead, they confess and uphold that “Christ is the head of the church, His body, of which He is the Savior.” (Ephesians 5:23)
Beijing Zion Church would rather endure persecution and see its pastors imprisoned than become Judases who sell out the truth. They are the faithful people of God.

Among these believers are some of China’s most respected scholars, lawyers, doctors, and professors.
Though accomplished in worldly success, they reject the false “prosperity gospel” preached by the state church, longing instead for the truth of heaven.
They do not bow to power, nor betray their faith. They speak for the oppressed, defend the weak, and practice God’s justice so that those who suffer may also share in His mercy.
Now, they are being charged under the fabricated crime of “illegal online dissemination” — a charge both absurd and self-condemning, a mockery of your own Constitution, and an insult to human conscience.

For the Constitution of the People’s Republic of China, Article 36, clearly states:

“Citizens of the People’s Republic of China enjoy freedom of religious belief.
No state organ, public organization or individual may compel citizens to believe in, or not to believe in, any religion.”

Yet the Chinese authorities openly trample upon their own laws and tear up their own promises.
Your leaders swear allegiance to the Constitution with one hand and wield it as a weapon of persecution with the other.
Before the eyes of the world, you have exposed your true identity — liars and deceivers.
As the Bible says:

“The devil… is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44)

You are doing the very works of Satan — stealing freedom, destroying justice, and silencing conscience.

In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we make these solemn demands:

  1. Immediately and unconditionally release all detained pastors and believers, and restore their freedom and reputation.
Any form of detention, disappearance, or denial of legal counsel is a direct violation of your own Constitution and of basic human rights.
  2. Abide by your own Constitution, Article 36, and protect freedom of religious belief.
Cease using false accusations such as “foreign infiltration” or “online dissemination” to suppress church activities.
  3. Call upon global churches and human rights organizations to record evidence, provide legal aid, and make the truth public —
so that the world may see this systematic persecution of true Christians, and that victims may receive international protection and justice.

We firmly believe:

“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:10)
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5)

Darkness will not prevail; truth will not be silenced.
At this moment, we stand together with our brothers and sisters of Beijing Zion Church.
Their chains are our chains; their cries are our cries.
We will continue to pray, to speak, and to confront lies and violence with peace and truth.

For the Scripture says:

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.” (Proverbs 31:8)

This is God’s command and the sacred mission of every believer.
If we remain silent, we become partners in sin; if we shrink back, we betray the calling of the cross.

Let the whole world know:
Faith is not a crime. Truth cannot be defeated. The Church of Christ will never be destroyed.

We believe: persecution cannot extinguish faith; iron chains cannot imprison the gospel.
For Jesus said:

“You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18)

We will not be silent.
The Lord will bring justice. Truth will triumph. Light will pierce the darkness
