Hello friends on Twitter, I am Junyu Wang from Indiana. My X account is Jwang312. Today is Apr 26, 2026. This week is the 188th week of urging each overseas friend on X to advocate for a detained prisoner of conscience.
Today I would like to advocate for two dissidents who were arrested by the CCP over the past year. They are both of the group that are specifically persecuted by the CCP post COVID era, which are also the rare "new type" among previous prisoners of conscience. One of them is Yadi Zhang, the other individual, whose name Guardian, who first reported this case, chose not to disclose, is Fangwei Cheng per various sources online. I wish to vocally support these two dissidents today.
These two dissidents are both international students from China, and they both had speech advocating for human rights when they were abroad. Fangwei Cheng went missing when he returned to China in December 2024, and Yadi Zhang went missing when she returned to China in July 2025. Besides being detained by the CCP, no further information about them is available afterwards. They were very likely tried and imprisoned in secret. Because they both advocated for the human rights of ethnic minorities, it is largely possible that they are sentenced with crime of dividing the nation. I hope friends on X can pay attention to them. No one should be incriminated for their speech. The CCP should immediately release Yadi Zhang and Fangwei Cheng.
The two individuals I wish to support today are just two victims that I found from daily browsing. If one carefully does some searching, there must be more similar international students like them who are arrested for their political speech when returning to China from overseas. This is related to another topic I want to discuss today.
A while ago, there was a popular online topic of "execution line". Essentially, it says that when one's conditions in life reach certain threshold, the status of living will dramatically degrade and become impossible to recover, thus it's equivalent to being "executed" from the society. It is a meme indicator that describes the wellness of a society. Many people who praise life in China claim that the "execution line" in China is extremely low or doesn't exist, because the cost of basic living is extremely low. But what I want to say is, in China, what triggers the "execution line" was never financial status, but rather political status. Anyone with individual mind, conscience, or sympathy has already crossed the "execution line" with one foot. And when they express out of free will, it is very likely to trigger the "execution".
For example of the two international students I advocate for today, those who can study overseas are extremely unlikely to fall into desperate conditions due to financial status. But just because they freely expressed themselves, something as moral as advocating for human rights, they were imprisoned by the CCP. Let alone how much sentence they would get, the CCP has a tradition to harass dissidents after they are released. As long as the CCP stays in power, it is very likely they will live in misery in the future.
Once again I wish everyone pay attention to Yadi Zhang and Fangwei Cheng, and I wish everyone could reclaim freedom.
Thanks everyone, we will see y
